Here comes the sun? Yes? No?

I started coiling a basket back in October – November 2020 to help tide me over the long, dark Midwestern winter.

As with many crafts, it’s a study in Be Here Now.

As soon as I don’t pay attention (what am I going to make for dinner tonight? do I really have to do laundry today’? or do have enough clean undies in my drawer? no, my car warranty is not about to expire!!), I mess up a coil or 2 or 3.

Spring will be here soon (OK, well, the calendar will say so, mother nature has different designs in mind.) so maybe I’ll finishing up the basket soon.

Or maybe I won’t ? Who knows! Stay tuned to see  it when I finish!

Happy International Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day to every single amazing women goddess in the world!
(Even if you doubt yourself, just know that, YES, you are significant!)

Purple is one of the colors of International Woman’s Day. It stands for JUSTICE and DIGNITY.

Raise you hand high to call out inequality, harmful gender stereotypes and biases.

Beautiful @coco.fe.coco pictured above, raising her hand for Woman’s Day!

 International Women’s Day
White is one of the colors of International Woman’s Day. It stands for PURITY. This whole “purity” business can be misconstrued in an old-fashioned patriarchal way, that is, meaning virginity. That ridiculous idea that a woman’s “purity” is equal to her “virginity” is such an outdated and yuck-o notion. And precisely, we are here today to call out these harmful stereotypes that have kept women oppressed for decades.
I prefer to think of “purity” as meaning “true”, that is, “being true to one’s ideals”. Right?!? So let’s all raise our hands to OUR TRUTH!

Beautiful @coco.fe.coco is pictured above, raising both her hands high for International Woman’s Day!

 International Woman's Day

Green is one of the colors of International Woman’s Day.
It stands for HOPE.

HOPE for true gender equality in the near future.
HOPE for a better laws and living conditions for ALL women, whether they are rich or poor, live in a developed country or in a poor, under-served community. We’ve come a long way, even within my own lifetime (my mom had to get permission from my dad when I was a kid to open her own bank account…seriously?!). And Saudi women just recently got legal rights to be able to drive a car! Obviously, we still have a loooong way to go.

Beautiful @verdantfaerie is pictured above. Who better than her to represent the color both the color green and the concept of hope!

Oh, and BTW, all clothes are 100% European linen, designed, made, and sewn by yours truly.

Rosie said it best: “We CAN do it!”

Jan 20, 2017.
I feared for the worst.
I feared that civil war would break out.
Civil war did not break out.
Yet 400,000 human lives lost in less than one year for no other reason than sheer stupidity, mismanagement, incompetance….WOW.
All the lies, the nonsense, the conspiracies…WOW, just WOW.
How???? How can that happen?(Yes, I’ve read all the “theories of How” but, but, but I still say to myself, “How? No! Wow!”)
And then just when we thought we could allow light and hope into our lives, Jan. 6th “happened”.
I still have no words for that event.
Trauma takes a long time to process.
Our collective trauma has not yet been processed.
Among the more heart-warming days were the Women’s Marches.
While I did not go to Washington DC, I did attend the marches in Chicago in 2017 and 2018. We learned to be fighters, resisters, we learned about our government. We learned that by working together, in Rosie’s words, “WE CAN!”

Darkness into Light. But did you know that Devi means Goddess?!?

I’ve been silent.

I felt squashed.
Heavy.
Frozen.
Surrounded by traumatic events, I retreated and did nothing. (Tell me I’m not the only one?)

DARKNESS.

January 2017 to January 2021 has been burdomsome.
*cough*  *cough *ahem* To say the least.
Dark. Very dark. Special mention goes to the year 2020.
(Why do we say 20/20 vision when 2020 was anything BUT perfect?)

Will we finally be able to BREATHE? Sleep? Eat? (Me, eat? Thank you, yes, I have been eating.  Ok, ok, hello Little Sumpthin’ IPAs that taste of grapefruit  and Restaurant Style Corn Chips in the artisan looking brown paper bag.  I can hardly zipper up my colorful  hand embroidered jeans anymore. ¡Viva los sweatpants! Right?!) (And for those who haved been able to breathe, literally!, I see you: George Floyd and all the victims of police brutality and victims of COVID19. My heart breaks and bleeds for you.)

LIGHT:

Kamala.
What a beautiful name!
And did you know her middle name is Devi?
(“Devi” means goddess! Did you know??!?)
Isn’t this a good sign? (Ok, so I don’t believe in conspiracies but hey, it’s fun to indulge sometimes in the beliefs about good omens, right?)

Ah. Yes, I do remember back in the olden days of the beginning of start of pandemic life… Yet another f***ing thing to piss me off royally (goddess-ly?) was Biden’s nomination. (Another old white dude? “Seriously, folks?!?”, I shouted on FaceBook to anyone who’d listen. ) Yet we didn’t have 20/20 vision back then, so who knew? Biden’s nomination ended up being the best choice. For this moment in history, anyway. So, yeah, I love you, Elizabeth Warren but, hey, all’s good really, you’re doing great in the Senate and I can’t wait until TOMORROW!!!! <3

JANUARY 20TH, 2021

Goodbye darkness!
Helloooooo LIGHT!

Nature is my religion

Hello My Goddess Big Leaf Oxidized Sterling Silver Earrings

Hello my goddess!

You love to be out in nature, don’t you? I know you do.

So do I!

I realize how much many of us really love being outdoors; digging around in a garden in the spring, sitting by a river on week-ends, contemplating the shoreline while on summer vacation, a hike through the forest during a 3.day break, or perhaps surrounding yourself with air plants in a city apartment.

That’s precisely why I created these simple nature earrings.

HelloMyGoddess Big Leaf Oxidized Sterling Silver Earrings

I didn’t want them to look like photocopies of real leaves.

I wanted to look like crazy little leaves that you’d find in your windswept hair while you are prancing around the lush green forest and giggling with all the faeries.

Imagine the goddess Diana: a strong-willed goddess with a mind of her own who spent her entire immortal existence living in the forest.

These earrings are named Diana.

Wear them and off you go howling with the wolves!
